 A billing and coding specialist helps the healthcare facility manage insurance claims, invoices, and payments. The day-to-day work of a medical coding and billing specialist includes: Properly coding services, procedures, diagnoses, and treatments. Preparing and sending invoices or claims for payment.

  1. All students must be 17 years of age or older
  2. All students must have a valid government issued photo ID
  3. All students must have a high school diploma or GED equivalent or transcript


Tuition $ 800  + 

$78 paid directly to NHA for resources 

$125 test fee to be paid directly to the National Healthcareer Association at the end of the course.

Total  cost for course $ 1003


At this time Stick It Phlebotomy does not offer any kind of government issued financial aid; we DO however offer financing options.  Check out these options here.

All students who register before 4 PM on Friday will have access to their course by the following Monday. Students will then complete 100% of their coursework online. Students may then schedule to take the NHA Certification Test here on site or at another NHA approved testing site.



The online portion of the class is broken up into 4 Modules. Most students prefer to attempt one Module per week.  


The entire knowledge/lecture portion is  hours total from start to finish, however students are strongly encouraged to take their time through these modules to prepare for the certification exam.


Practice Exams are limited to 2 hours per attempt to mirror the conditions of the National Exam.


100% ONLINE. Testing may also be done remotely if desired.


Yes!  All students who successfully complete this course can potentially earn National Certification through the National Healthcareer Association! 


Stick It Phlebotomy is committed to giving all of our graduating students every available opportunity to succeed in the work force. All students will gain access to our "Current Student's Resources" page upon graduation where they can search for available jobs using their newly earned certifications, request an official transcript and a letter of recommendation from your instructor.


Students will need internet access to create their own accounts including their usernames and passwords and access their online coursework. 


For the best experience it is recommended that students use one of the following browsers: Firefox (59 or later), Google Chrome (66 or later) or Safari (8 or later). 


Android's default browser is not supported; download chrome for a better experience.


For the best experience students are recommended to use one of the following devices: 

  • PC (Windows, 7,8, 8.1, 10, or later), Mac (Max OS X 10.9 or later)
  • iPhone / Smart Phone
  • iPad 2 or later (iOS 9 or later)
  • Android tablet (Android OS 7.0 or later) or Chrome OS device (such as a Chromebook with Chrome OS 78 or later).


The online portion of the course serves as a text book replacement so NO a book is NOT required!


For those of us who prefer to have a text book you may purchase one on the nhanow.com website store option.


 As of May 29, 2023, the average annual pay for the Medical Coding Billing jobs category in Louisiana is $32,688 a year. 


Just in case you need a simple salary calculator, that works out to be approximately $15.72 an hour. This is the equivalent of $628/week or $2,724/month. There is a high demand for coders due to the a recent shortage!


While ZipRecruiter is seeing salaries as high as $60,678 and as low as $17,892, the majority of salaries within the Medical Coding Billing jobs category currently range between $26,449 (25th percentile) to $38,895 (75th percentile) with top earners (90th percentile) making $49,786 annually in Louisiana.


The average pay range for a Medical Coding Billing job varies greatly (as much as $12,446), which suggests there may be many opportunities for advancement and increased pay based on skill level, location and years of experience.


Based on recent job posting activity on ZipRecruiter, the Medical Coding Billing job market in Louisiana is not very active as few companies are currently hiring. Louisiana ranks number 49 out of 50 states nationwide for Medical Coding Billing job salaries.
